Comments

When visitors leave comments, the data entered in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, is collected to assist in spam detection.

An anonymized string (hash) of the email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if it is in use. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. Once the comment is approved, the profile picture becomes publicly visible in the comment’s context.

Media

Avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.

Cookies

Leaving a comment allows users to opt-in to saving their name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.
A temporary cookie determines if the browser accepts cookies when visiting the login page. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded after closing the browser.
Logging in creates multiple cookies to store login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while screen options cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends the login duration to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie in the browser, which includes no personal data and expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Comments and associated metadata are retained indefinitely for automatic recognition and approval of follow-up comments.
Registered users can view, edit, or delete personal information in their profiles. However, usernames cannot be changed. Website administrators also have access to this information.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed through PayPal. Some personal data (e.g., purchase total and billing details) is shared with PayPal to complete transactions.
